Car detailing lead generation for Canadian detailers
Detail Up builds and runs the website, Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and Google Business Profile for one detailer per territory in Canada, tracks every call and form, and ties the fee to the enquiries that arrive. Campaigns are priced in CAD and run from ad accounts in your name.
The Canadian detailing market
IBISWorld counts 3,929 car wash and auto detailing businesses in Canada in 2026, up 4.6% on 2025, growing 3.6% a year on average since 2021, which makes Canada one of the few markets where the number of detailing operators is rising quickly. IBISWorld's national revenue figure sits behind its paywall and we will not quote a number nobody can check; the Canadian Carwash Association's own estimate is about C$1.5 billion in car wash revenue by 2025, with Ontario and Quebec the largest markets. In Alberta alone IBISWorld's preview shows 643 establishments and 3,547 workers in 2026, forecast to reach 740 and 4,104 by 2031.
The market is concentrated in a handful of metros. Statistics Canada reports that three in four Canadians live in a census metropolitan area, and Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver alone hold more than 14 million people. Those cities also have the harshest conditions for paint and interiors in the developed world: Ontario spreads millions of tonnes of road salt every winter, and a Toronto detailer's spring calendar is built around getting it off.
For a detailer that means a short, intense season and a customer who already understands why protection matters. Ceramic coating and paint protection film sell as insurance against salt, and interior salt removal is a repeat service through the winter. Detail Up runs one Canadian detailer per territory, builds the campaigns around that calendar and tracks every enquiry. See how it works or the jobs calculator.

When detailing demand moves in Canada
Canada has the sharpest detailing season of any market we serve. Toronto mobile detailers report that April and May are the peak, and the post-winter detail is the single highest-ROI service most drivers book each year, because the salt that bonds to paint and coats undercarriages all winter has to come off before warm weather accelerates corrosion. Exterior work and ceramic coating need temperatures above 5°C to bond, so most GTA detailers pause those services from December through February. Winter is not dead, though: interior salt removal every six to eight weeks is a repeat booking.
The second peak is October and November, when Toronto detailers tell customers to apply a durable sealant or ceramic coating as a sacrificial layer against road salt before the snow flies. In Alberta the calendar adds hail: the 5 August 2024 Calgary hailstorm caused nearly C$2.8 billion in insured damage and more than 130,000 claims. The budget plan for a Canadian detailer is a hard spring ramp from March, a coating and film push in September and October, and a smaller interior-only campaign through winter. Detail Up builds Google Ads and Meta Ads spend around that curve.
Marketplaces vs your own detailing leads in Canada
The platforms Canadian detailers use to buy enquiries, and how each charges. Every one sells the same enquiry to several businesses or keeps the customer relationship; Detail Up generates enquiries from assets in your name, for you only.
| Platform | How it charges | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HomeStars (Angi-owned, Canada only) | Pay for placement in your category and area plus pay per lead; leads shared among several businesses | Reported at C$40–C$80 per lead; no official price list |
| Bark Canada | Credit packs, one-off fee per lead response; credits expire after 3 months; no commission | CAD credit price not published; cost shown before you respond |
| Thumbtack | Pay per lead; you set a max price per lead and a weekly budget | Limited Canadian coverage, available in some cities only |
| Google Local Services Ads | Pay per lead with the Google Guaranteed or Google Screened badge | "Car Wash and Detailing" is an eligible category; per-lead price for detailing not published |
| Yelp Ads | Pay per click; minimum about $150 a month; no published average CPC | Category-specific estimate shown at setup |
| Nextdoor Ads | Cost per thousand impressions | About $20 CPM via Taradel (US figure, 2025); business page is free |
What detailing advertising costs in Canada
There is no published Canadian cost-per-click benchmark for "car detailing". Canadian agencies publish planning ranges for local services of $4 to $12 per click for home services (Consultus Digital, 2026) and $6 to $25 per click for home services (Brand Butter, 2026), both in CAD and both from the agencies' own accounts rather than an independent dataset. The nearest independent benchmark is the US automotive repair, service and parts category at US$4.35 per click and US$29.96 per lead (WordStream and LocaliQ, 2026); treat that as a US proxy, not a Canadian number.
Our own numbers come from Australian accounts. Across the Google Ads accounts Detail Up manages the average cost per tracked enquiry is AUD $14.70, and the Meta Ads detailing campaigns have delivered 441 leads at AUD $11.86 each. They show what a single-service, single-territory build produces; the account-level detail is on the results page.
Advertising claims and the law in Canada
Canada's Competition Act judges an ad by the general impression it conveys, not just its literal words. A claim about performance or results must be based on an adequate and proper test made before the claim is published, and the Competition Bureau notes that testimonials usually do not amount to adequate proof. Misleading warranties and guarantees are a separate civil offence. Penalties for a corporation run to C$10 million for a first order, C$15 million after that, or three times the benefit or 3% of worldwide revenue. Detail Up therefore does not promise a fixed number of leads. The offer is performance-based: an exclusive territory, every enquiry tracked, and fees tied to the enquiries that arrive. Detailers in Quebec should also note that consumer advertising must be available in French.
