Car detailing lead generation for Australian detailers
Detail Up builds and runs the website, Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and Google Business Profile for one detailer per territory in Australia, tracks every call and form, and ties the fee to the enquiries that arrive. Campaigns are priced in AUD and run from ad accounts in your name.
The Australian detailing market
Australia's car wash and detailing industry is worth about AUD $608 million in 2025-26 (IBISWorld), and it is not a growth story on paper: revenue has fallen 3.4% a year since 2021 and IBISWorld counts 1,683 businesses in 2026, down from 1,694 a year earlier. The category is dominated by fixed-site car washes with a fragmented long tail of independent detailers, so the operators who are still growing are the ones winning the higher-value work: coatings, correction, film and interior restoration.
The addressable market is large and still growing. There were 22.3 million registered motor vehicles in Australia at January 2025, up 2.6% in a year, including 16.1 million passenger vehicles (BITRE). Every one of them gets dirty, most live outside under some of the harshest UV in the world, and the owners in the five big capitals search for a detailer on their phone.
For a detailer that means two things. First, a shrinking number of businesses is fighting for a stable pool of customers, so being the detailer who shows up first on Google in your suburbs matters more each year. Second, the money is in the high-ticket services: a $1,000 to $2,500 ceramic coating or a $2,500 to $7,000 paint protection film job pays for a month of advertising on its own. Detail Up builds the system to bring those enquiries to one detailer per territory. See how it works or the lead value calculator.

When detailing demand moves in Australia
Demand in Australia moves with summer. Mobile detailers tell customers to book full details from mid-November to early December to avoid the December booking rush, and the same months bring the pre-sale wave: used-car demand is busiest from October to December and quietest from June to August. Sellers who want top dollar book a detail first.
Weather adds its own peaks. New South Wales hailstorms cluster from October to February with a November to December peak, and Sydney averages about ten hailstorms a year; the Bureau of Meteorology describes eastern-state thunderstorms as a warmer-half-year phenomenon, most severe in late spring and summer. Melbourne's grass pollen season runs 1 October to 31 December and coats every car in the city. The practical rule: ad budgets should rise from October, peak in December, and hold through the January road-trip return. Detail Up plans Google Ads budgets around that curve rather than spending flat all year.

What detailing advertising costs in Australia
There is no published Australian cost-per-click benchmark for "car detailing" specifically. The closest public figures are a global automotive repair benchmark converted to about AUD $3.82 per click with a 14.7% conversion rate (2025 data), and an Australian agency benchmark for trades and local services of $3 to $12 per click and $40 to $120 per lead (2026). The US benchmark for automotive service and repair is US$6.42 per click and US$42.10 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026); treat that as a US proxy, not an Australian number.
Our own numbers are lower than those benchmarks because the campaigns are built for one service in one territory. Across the Google Ads accounts Detail Up manages the average cost per tracked enquiry is $14.70, and the Meta Ads detailing campaigns have delivered 441 leads at $11.86 each, including $10.02 per lead in Perth. Those are our figures, not industry averages; see the results page for the account-level detail.
Advertising claims and the law in Australia
The ACCC requires advertising claims to be true, accurate and based on reasonable grounds, and a prediction of future results must have reasonable grounds when it is made. From 28 March 2026 the maximum penalty for a corporation under the Australian Consumer Law is the greater of $100 million, three times the benefit gained or 30% of adjusted turnover. That is why Detail Up never promises a fixed number of enquiries. The offer is performance-based: an exclusive territory, every enquiry tracked, and fees tied to the enquiries that arrive. We recommend detailers word their own advertising the same way, with coating durability and correction results stated only as the manufacturer or your own records can support.
